– Where will you travel?
We take our stilt acts all around the UK but have also performed in a number of countries across the world. We’ve also learned to adapt our characters for audiences that might speak very little or no English. Put simply: Have stilts, will travel!
– What kind of audience is it suitable for?
To be honest – and we’re not just saying this – we’ve found that our characters work well for just about everyone. A mixed, family audience is our ideal crowd, but the Sergeant Majors in particular work really well for predominantly adult audiences as well as mixed groups.
– How much do you charge?
We base our pricing on the going-rate for professional entertainers. The exact price can vary slightly depending on a number of factors. For example, we can often offer a discount if we’re at an event for several days. Please get in touch and we can talk to you about our availability and price.
– Do you have insurance?
We are proud members of Equity, the performers’ union. We carry £10million Public Liability Insurance, but we don’t intend to use it! We can also provide a Risk Assessment, if that’s what floats your boat.
– I’ve found a cheaper option – are you worth the extra money?
Good question! We think we are, and here’s why. Many entertainment agencies have a costume rack and a few pairs of stilts, then hire out drama students or dancers to work as their stiltwalkers. This often leads to a cheaper option for the client but we believe that this rarely leads to great entertainment. We spend lots of time and effort developing each of our acts, not just with the highest-quality costumes that we have tailor-made to fit, but by paying attention to details like the music, scripting and personality that bring each of our characters to life. We’re blowing our own trumpet here, but we don’t think anybody else offers anything like this.
We’re also really experienced – read more on our about us page.
– Can I book a single stiltwalker?
After working as roaming stiltwalkers at hundreds of events over many years we have come to the conclusion that a pair of character stiltwalkers is the best formula for great entertainment, and provides the best value for money. It allows for great banter between the entertainers as well as with the audience, and provides much better visual impact than a single stiltwalker. Furthermore we think that a team of two entertainers creates something greater than the sum of its parts, and so we tend to only provide stilt duos.
– Do you have any other characters that will fit in with the theme of my event?
We think it’s better to do a few things really well rather than being a jack-of-all-trades, but we’d love to talk if you have an idea or an event that you’d like us to create something for. We don’t use off-the-shelf costumes and we make sure that we properly develop a new character before we perform it, so it’s best to get in touch with us well in advance of the event.
